In his presentation, Erick Shambarger will explain how Milwaukee can meet the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations despite the chaos of climate policy in Washington. Even with President Trump‘s cuts to environmental and green energy programs, positive programs are taking place in Milwaukee.
Since 2015, he has overseen implementation of the Refresh Milwaukee sustainability plan and coordinates Milwaukee's involvement with local, national, and global partnerships on environmental sustainability.
Erick oversees all of ECO's programs, including the Milwaukee Energy Efficiency (Me2) program, the Milwaukee Better Buildings Challenge, Water Centric City initiative, the HOME GR/OWN program, and green infrastructure work. He is currently the Project Manager for the Climate and Equity Plan. He co-founded the Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition, which advocates for clean energy policy.
Trump calls climate change a hoax, opposes most clean energy policies and research, and favors polluting energy sources like coal, gas, and nuclear power. Erick will discuss how the City of Milwaukee and partners can educate the public and develop local clean energy programs.
Erick Shambarger holds a Master of Public Affairs Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
